CanGym Badge Program: Recreational Burgundy › Gold

CanGym is Canada's National Skill Development Program. It was created by coaches, to be used in recreational gymnastics for participants of all ages. The 14 levels each consist of approximately 30 skills. Program skills have been selected to ensure a clear progression from one badge to the next. The skills can be considered "building blocks" for more advanced gymnastics or can stand alone as excellent recreational skills. The format for all CanGym classes include a warm-up and three to five 15-20 minute rotations each class. Some classes will also include a physical ability rotation.Progress reports will be given to each student at the end of each session. Coaches will complete the reports to indicate which skills the student is "Learning" and which he/she has "Mastered". A participant has "completed" a badge when he/she has "mastered" each skill in that level. Some badges may take only one session to complete, while some may require multiple sessions. IMPORTANT: Only the Burgundy badge requires no experience. All other badges require students to have completed the previous level.

Boys Only
Age: 6 years+     Length: 1 hour/class       Price: $104.00

This class follows a similar format and structure as the regular co-ed badge classes. The content of each badge includes some specialized boys gymnastics elements along with the regular content of the level. As the only requirement for this class is to be a boy a minimum 6 years of age, there may end up being a wider variety of age and ability in these classes than in the co-ed classes.

This class follows a similar format and structure as the regular co-ed badge classes. The content of each badge includes some specialized boys gymnastics elements along with the regular content of the level. This class is intended for boys who have completed 2 or more badges already.

Homeschool

Participants will be grouped, as much as possible, by age and ability - this will depend on the registration each session. This structured class will include warm-up, stretching and specific activities on each event: beam, bars, trampoline, floor and vault. The classes are instructed according to the CANGYM program listed above.
